Even though Haynt Jubilee Books were issued in tens of thousands of copies, it is doubtful whether their contents, especially the illustrated parts, became well known enough outside the Haynt readership. This applies in particular to the second volume which appeared in 1939. As much as the Haynt yearbooks have been studied by commentators, it seems that not enough attention has been given to the Jubilee Books. The author believed that it will be worthwhile to note in this part of the book the names of the authors and the titles of their entries in both Jubilee Books.
The books abound in material that will be of interest to biographers, historians, sociologists, physicians. Researchers dealing with different cultures will find important studies about Jewish theater and Jewish art; historians of literature will find a rich collections of poetry and novels which were written in Yiddish in the 20s and 30s. These works were seldom reproduced by other publishers and have been forgotten.
The memoirs and analyses, the fundamental and many faceted studies concerning the economy and other matters, were written by professionals specially for the Jubilee Books. The detailed statistical complementary material in both volumes throws a light on the conditions of Jews in the state of Poland. Of special interest in the data concerning earnings, among others, there are detailed tables describing the network of activities of Jewish charitable funds for the year 1927; these appear on pages 128-129 of the Jubilee Book. The wealth of material in both Jubilee Books gives a general perspective on the political and social background which determined the standard of living of Jews not only during the period of the first forty years of this century and not in Poland only. Many of the authors perished in the Holocaust, others died a natural death. Quite often nothing was left of their work. One can stipulate that the greater part of the entries in the second Jubilee Book are the last that they had published. In both Jubilee Books there is also significant photographic material. Besides the photos of the writers there are individual and group photos of the founders and employees and of a number of people prominent in public affairs. For the most these are the last, if not the only remaining photographs.
